Overview

Nestled in the heart of Constitution Hill, NSW, Chettinad Parambariyam by Nithiks Kitchen offers an authentic glimpse into the rich culinary heritage of Chettinad cuisine. This restaurant is a treasure trove for lovers of traditional South Indian flavors, especially those who appreciate the depth and complexity that Chettinad dishes bring to the table.

The main draw here is undeniably the range of dosas and biryanis that echo the vibrant spices and textures unique to Chettinad cooking. From the crisp, buttery ghee dosa to the indulgent cheese dosa, each preparation balances the delicate fermentation of the batter with toppings and accompaniments that enhance rather than overpower. Their Mysore Masala Dosa stands out with its perfect blend of heat and seasoning, while the Onion Podi Uthappam offers a lighter yet equally satisfying alternative.

Biryanis at Chettinad Parambariyam are crafted with precision, showcasing fragrant rice layered with tender, marinated meats and aromatic spices that tell a story of tradition and passion. The Mutton and Chicken Biryanis of the day come paired with cooling raita, creating a duet of flavors that soothe and delight the palate. The inclusion of specialty items like Briyani Thokku adds a rustic touch that appeals to purists seeking an unvarnished taste of regional heritage.

The space itself, located conveniently on Emma Crescent, offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that complements the hearty and authentic fare. The restaurant’s setup encourages a relaxed dining experience, ideal for families, food enthusiasts, and anyone eager to explore the nuances of Chettinad cuisine without leaving the Sydney metropolitan area.

Overall, Chettinad Parambariyam by Nithiks Kitchen is a celebration of tradition done right. Whether you are a longtime admirer of South Indian food or a curious newcomer, this establishment presents a fine balance of flavor intensity and culinary authenticity—making it a must-visit for those seeking genuine taste and ambiance in one sitting.

We’ve been here a couple of times and absolutely love the food and hospitality. Although the menu is limited, there’s no compromise on taste. If you’re looking to try outstanding South Indian cuisine, this is definitely the right place. We can’t resist coming back frequently these days, especially because the prices are very affordable. Recently, we tried the mutton biryani, Mutton kothu parotta, and chicken 65 — all of them were excellent.

If you’re craving truly authentic South Indian flavours, particularly from the Chettinad region, Chettinad Parambariyam by Nithiks Kitchen is a hidden gem in Constitution Hill that absolutely delivers on taste and tradition. I had heard great things, but my experience went beyond expectations—especially when it came to the biriyani. I ordered the Mutton Biriyani, made with jeeraga samba rice, and I can confidently say it was the best biriyani I’ve ever had. The aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water while waiting. That warm, inviting scent of perfectly spiced rice and slow-cooked mutton had everyone around me turning their heads. The flavour? Absolutely spot on. Rich, fragrant, and layered, with every bite delivering just the right balance of spice and depth. The mutton was tender and cooked to perfection, and the short-grain jeeraga samba rice brought that authentic South Indian touch you don’t find often in Sydney. I also tried the Chicken 65, and once again—it was easily the best I’ve had. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and bursting with flavour. It had that unmistakable South Indian kick of spices without being overpowering. This dish alone would be enough to keep me coming back. The only downside to my visit was the wait time. Whether you’re dining in or ordering takeaway, be prepared to wait—especially during peak hours. I had originally planned to dine in, but due to the crowd and the limited number of staff available to serve, I opted for takeaway. While waiting, the smell inside the restaurant was absolutely amazing—it just added to the anticipation and excitement of finally digging into the food. I understand that authentic, handcrafted food takes time, but I do hope they consider increasing the number of staff during busy periods. A more efficient service experience would make a huge difference, especially for customers who want to dine in and enjoy the full ambiance without long delays. That said, once you taste the food, you understand why people are willing to wait. There’s a clear dedication to quality, tradition, and bold, honest flavours that transport you straight to Tamil Nadu. It’s rare to find such authentic Chettinad cuisine done this well in Sydney, and the effort behind it is obvious. In conclusion, Chettinad Parambariyam by Nithiks Kitchen is a must-visit for lovers of South Indian food. The mutton biriyani is unforgettable, the chicken 65 is phenomenal, and the overall experience, despite the wait, is worth every minute. If they can improve their service capacity during rush hours, this place would be near perfect. Highly recommend dropping by—but try to go early or call ahead. And don’t be surprised if you find yourself dreaming of that biriyani long after it’s gone!

Excellent, authentic food, balanced flavours, less oil and you’ll leave with a smile and likely a takeaway order to go as well! Probably the best chettinad style restaurant in Sydney - will definitely be coming back! Does get slightly busy, but worth the trek and wait.

What a hidden gem in Sydney! Sydney has no shortage of Indian and Sri Lankan restaurants, but this is the first Chettinad restaurant I’ve come across here, and it’s an absolute standout. I highly recommend it! The dishes are beautifully aromatic and bursting with flavour. I genuinely believe you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. For those unfamiliar, Chettinad is a region in Tamil Nadu, South India, renowned for its bold, spicy, and deeply flavourful cuisine. The chicken soup is clearly a crowd favourite, and the mutton meatballs were simply out of this world, rich, tender, and packed with spice. If I had to nitpick, the portion sizes could be a bit more generous. But honestly, the taste more than makes up for it. Chettinad Parambariyam is an experience not to be missed. A must-visit for any lover of South Indian cuisine. or anyone ready to discover it.

Pros: One of the tastiest, non-oily, less spicy chicken Briyani I have had. Must try. Chicken 65 is just like how you get in Chennai. Also, tried their Naatu kozhi varuval, a bit on spicier side, but worth the try since it is their special. Very attentive and responsive staff. Cons( not really, but more of a wish list): Limited menu compared to other restaurants. Popular items like kothu parotta, veechu missing. Not available on delivery apps (yet).

This is an absolutely must visit spot particularly if you are a chettinad / sound India food lover. We were a party of 5 people who ate here recently. The Kari Dosa is the authentic variety that we are used to from Madurai or Tirunelveli. Think with a chunky layer of mutton. Perfectly pair with lovely sherva! Mutton Biriyani was flavoursome and the mutton was perfectly cooked too. Not the kalyana Biriyani but a good Chennai style bhai Biriyani. Mutton Chukka is the stand out dish of the afternoon. Paired perfectly with fluffy Parotta. The Parotta in itself was not the big rotti from kerala but a smaller crisper variety. Easily can devour 2 in an empty stomach. The chicken roast was fried and crispy. We even tried the veg thali (Saturday’s are veg thali and Sunday’s are non veg thali) - some really special dishes like pumpkin podimas were lovely. All in all an absolutely amazing experience. We travelled 1 hour 45 min all the way from Wollongong. Would definitely won’t think about doing this again soon.

If you’re coming here, do yourself a favour and order the Mutton Kari Dosa—it was the absolute highlight of our meal, perfectly crisp with a rich, flavourful meat topping. We also had the Mutton and Chicken Biryanis, and both were spot on; the meat was tender, and the spices were deeply aromatic without being overwhelming. To top it all off, we had the Goli Soda, which was the perfect refreshing finish to cut through the spice. Authentic flavors, generous portions, and great service. We’ll definitely be back for more!"

This popular little restaurant has a great non veg thali on Sunday $30. I felt the serves were generous and the biryani is traditionally made with the right rice. This place was packed for lunch. There was a steady flow for ubereats. The food wasn't hot per se but the black pepper gets me. Definitely chettinad south indian food. Now toilets available and nothing nearby. There is a washbasin.
